Most of us assume it's safe when we soothe our babies with petroleum jelly and mineral oil, wash and shampoo them with chemical-based cleansers, feed them from plastic bottles, swaddle them in disposable diapers, surround them with scented products and put them to sleep in pajamas treated with fire-retardant chemicals.  Although we act out of love, we are often unaware that the choices we make may be harmful to our children.

It is very important to try to limit your children's exposure to harmful chemicals.  Children are more vulnerable to the effects of toxic chemicals than adults.  Their immune systems and central nervous system are immature and still developing, which means their bodies are generally less capable of eliminating toxins. 

In addition, children have roughly double the skin surface of adults per unit of body weight, so a child can absorb proportionally more chemicals.  Adult skin absorbs up to 60% of the ingredients (including the synthetic and toxic chemicals) found in the personal care products used on a daily basis. Imagine the impact on your child's skin and health!
